Both terms, exclamation mark and exclamation point, refer to the same punctuation symbol: "!". In American English, it is more commonly referred to as an exclamation point, while in British English, it is often called an exclamation mark. The choice between using "mark" or "point" is simply a matter of regional preference and both terms are widely accepted. **

It depends on the context and tone of the sentence. A period is used to indicate the end of a statement or a neutral tone, while an exclamation mark is used to convey strong emotion or emphasis. If the sentence is expressing excitement, surprise, urgency, or strong emotion, then an exclamation mark would be more appropriate. If the sentence is simply stating a fact or making a neutral statement, then a period would be more suitable. **

The keyboard may type an exclamation mark instead of an exclamation mark due to a language or keyboard layout setting. For example, some keyboards may have a different default setting that replaces certain characters with others. Additionally, a user may have accidentally activated a keyboard shortcut or function that changes the output of certain keys. It is also possible that there is a hardware issue with the keyboard itself, causing it to type the wrong character. **
